We know it can be unsettling to open your wallet and realize your debit card is no longer there. Whether your cards was stolen or accidentally misplaced, we'll help you get through it.
Keep in mind that having a stolen debit card number is equally as dangerous for your bank account as losing your physical debit card. The most important thing to remember in this situation is to act as fast as you can to avoid any fraudulent activity or bank fees.
Step 1: Contact Peoples Exchange Bank
If you think your debit card has been lost or stolen, please let us know immediately. During business hours call (800)364-3631. After business hours and on weekends, call (833)448-0018.
Monitoring your account online, via mobile banking, and using our PEBank app will also make it quick and easy to see if any unauthorized transactions took place.
Step 2: Address Fraudulent Charges on Lost or Stolen Debit Card
You may get caught in the unfortunate circumstance where someone has stolen your debit card and accessed the money in your account. According to the Electronic Funds Transfer Act (EFTA), you are not responsible for unauthorized charges to your account if you inform the bank that your debit card is missing.
Step 3: Replace your Debit Card
For a lost or stolen debit card, call (800)364-3631 and we will close your debit card. After business hours and on weekends, call (833)448-0018. Replacement cards are mailed within 7-10 business days or rush order can be placed for a nominal fee. You can also visit any Peoples Exchange Bank branch to obtain a temporary card while you wait for your permanent one.
